The Bloomfield Fire Auxiliary (BFA) has been created to provide support to the Bloomfield Center Fire District (BCFD) and its members. The Auxiliary’s role is to assist the department through volunteer service, fundraising efforts, community outreach, and by offering additional resources for the firefighters and Commissioners who serve the district.

As members of the Bloomfield Fire Auxiliary, our mission is to stand in support of the Bloomfield Center Fire District, its families, and our community. We are committed to offering help in times of need, strengthening the bond between the department and the people it serves. With dedication and care, the Bloomfield Fire Auxiliary strives to ensure that every service we provide and every act of assistance we extend is met with the highest level of support and compassion.

Purpose & Participation
The Bloomfield Fire Auxiliary not only strengthens the bond between the fire district and the community but also ensures that both families and trusted community members can contribute to the success and well-being of the department. Auxiliary members play an important role in supporting the firefighters and Commissioners, creating a network of assistance that extends beyond emergency response into community engagement, morale, and long-term sustainability.
Membership Eligibility
Membership in the Bloomfield Fire Auxiliary is open primarily to family members of BCFD firefighters and Commissioners. For the purpose of eligibility, “family member” is defined as:
-
The spouse or child of an active or retired BCFD firefighter or Commissioner
-
The domestic partner or significant other who resides with an active or retired BCFD firefighter or Commissioner
This ensures that the Auxiliary remains closely tied to the families of those directly serving the fire district.
Special Membership
In cases where a BCFD firefighter or Commissioner does not have a family member available or interested in participating, they may nominate an individual to serve as a “Special Member” of the Auxiliary.
Special Membership carries the following guidelines:
-
The nominated individual will serve a one-year probationary period.
-
During probation, the Special Member does not have voting rights and cannot hold an officer position within the Auxiliary.
-
The Special Member may, however, serve on committees, assist in planning, and take part in all Auxiliary events and activities.
-
At the conclusion of the probationary year, the Auxiliary membership will vote to determine whether the Special Member should be granted full Active Membership.
-
Once approved as an Active Member, the individual gains full voting rights and is eligible to serve as an officer within the BFA.
